Planning to do a little Fluval Spec III for a single species of photosynthetic sponge and some feather dusters I’m thinking. I have a local guy who has either a Kessil A80 Tuna or tur Fluval Sea Nano. Kessil has killer shimmer and I want a very natural looking reef and I can always dim the light if it’s too strong. The Fluval Sea is nice because you can control it. Price isn’t an issue, he said no matter what I pick it’ll be the same price. Kessil doesn’t have a gooseneck but I could lay the light on the spec III lid too.

I'd go with the kessil - the only time I'd recommend against the A80 is when you need high PAR, and it doesn't sound like you do. Just set the intensity and spectrum dials how you want them and combine with a wifi-app-controlled outlet for scheduling: https://amzn.to/4aYh4xK

DO YOU THINK TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS ARE MORE HELPFUL OR HURTFUL TO REEFING?

  • I think it depends mostly on the technology.
