I'm considering drilling and plumbing a 40 breeder for my first tank.

I was going to get the Eshopps M overflow which is a herbie drain but I'm reading that I'll see the waterline which I absolutely do not want. The other option seems to be a Reef Synergy which is expensive and supposed overkill. The last option is a glass holes but I don't like the idea of not having an emergency drain even though the liklihood of the drain clogging is very low.

Are there other options or is there a way to make the Eshopps overflow work?

I did the Eshopps Eclipse S herbie style, the trick to not seeing the water line is when you go to drill the tank, take the template and put it on the inside all the way up to the top, and drill from the inside out, so its just against the inside of the rim. Did this and cannot see a water line on my 40 breeder :)

Another option is the Xaqua InOut from Two Little Fishies - I haven't run one myself but have seen it in action and it looks pretty nice.

Went with the eshopps L so I could do a bean animal setup. Has been working great now for months and is dead silent.

I setup a 40B last winter and used the Eshopps Large overflow kit.
