If your looking for performance get the tallest skimmer and one that has a very relyable pump. The longer the contact time in water a bubble has, the more organics attacth to it. One way to reduce height is to have a recirculating pump that recircultes the air/water.

I also willing to change my skimmer and I plan to go for this guy here.

Have that skimmer. Skims well until the pump doesnt restart without sticking a screwdriver in the impeller. ;)

Reef octopus is superior trust me. That "gate valve" on the bubble magnus is just a pipe with a hole in it you turn.

Plus if you sell, good luck getting much for it. But if you buy reef octo or the other youll sell it.

Im thinking about but not really sure yet. I use ReefOctopus right now and it's a older model and the pump is soooo noisy. I change it once and it still loud, special the sucking air sound is like hell. I need something very very quiet.

Does it have a silencer on it? My reef octo is pretty quiet, but its not in the bedroom.

Yes there is a silencer but it still soooo loud. My wife like my tank but hate the noice and I also fed up with this skimmer now. It not skim the way it should be.

Ah ok. You should look into a wooden airstone skimmer then if you want ultra quiet!

Deltec would get my vote.
Of your selection, look at which pump gives the most ltr/hr.

Take a look at the Nyos skimmers. I fought with a Bubble Mag for months, adjusting constantly but could never dial it in. Got the Nyos, had it dialed in within a week and haven't had to touch it since except for slight adjustments after cleaning the neck/cup. Love it!

Height of the water is key for the Bubble magus. It works great once I put in 6-7" of water.

Which size is your tank and what model from Nyos skimmer you use? I heard that the collection cup are sometimes very hard to remove or sometimes even not. How is your opinion to this problem?
