So currently, I made a classic newb move and bought a amazon return pump that says its 800gph. I just recently hooked up an Eshopps nano fuge to my 20 gal nano waterbox.

I plumed the system together, and noticed that I have to have my ball valve at about 40% for adequate flow to the sump to cause slight spillage into the second filter sock and to match the flow rate of the amazon pump.

I have the AIO water box system, that runs through filter sock, then through bio media and some Sponges, then have an Eshopps overflow box inside of the original return pump chamber, this leads down to refugium am having an issue with gurgling in overflow/lack of water volume in my DT and too much in my fuge. All that to say this,

What is a good pump for a 40 gallon system that has a good Overhead pressure at about 4 foot that isn’t loud as hell? I need a powerful enough return pump so I can open the ball-valve full throttle.

The primary fix is to get a smaller pump. Honestly, you only need to pump around 60-80gph to that size display. This would equate to maybe a 200gph pump. The second is to ditch the foam in the overflow and build a pvc drain “silencer” for it.
