which tank

So, I was all buy ready to go out and buy a 75 gallon tank. And Then I came across a 120 gallon tank. 4 x 2 x2 . So if it was you... Which tank would you pick? Its one or the other. And your reason. I am stumped on what to do!

I'd go for the 120. A new tank always seems big at first, but you'll think It's too small awfully quick regardless of the size. Plus, the extra 6 inch depth makes a world of difference for aquascaping.

if I'd have the $$ i'd go with the 120 without thinking it twice... same tank basically but it's... way more comfortable for aqua-scaping and the extra depth does make it look a lot more spacious than the 75 imo!

Definitely the 120. We had a 90 gallon before we got our 120. Huge difference in what you can doo with aquascaping in the 120 vs a 75 or 90.

120 is a awesome tank, the dimensions make it a great tank to do just about anything reef related. in this hobby bigger is always better as long as you can afford it, and if you cant buy it anyways.

I had the similar question about two months ago - a six-foot 125 (18" deep) or a six-foot 180 (24" deep) for my next build. Needless to say, the 180 is in my storage building awaiting our move so I can begin building a stand (unless I find one) and setting the tank up.

go bigger , you will be much happier you did. i have a 90 gallon and i am getting sick of it. not to mention it's a tech tank and the overflow sucks. think i am going to buy a 150 cube and satisfy my itch for a new tank. go with the 120 , they are a perfect size all around. enough space to build rockwork that dosn't have to be bumped up to the back wall. and more room for fish to thrive.

i agree, i am stuck on a tank thats 24 inches front to back. Im doing some looking to see if I can find like a 48 x 24 x 20. Does anyone know where I can find one of these tanks? I dont want to have to stand on a step ladder to get to the bottom of my tank. When I had a 90 setup it was a pain. Thats Why at first, i though of a 75 over a 90.

I would think that a tank with those dimensions would need to be custom made.

Glass cages is cheap, but you get what you pay for to an extent. The silicone job usually isn't as nice as the higher end custom or mass produced tanks and a few people have had issues with the seams blowing out. If you're looking for cheap, you're best off going with one of the standard sizes. To get a custom tank of equal quality to the mass produced ones will be quite a bit more expensive. Best off getting the 120 along with a step stool IMO.

120 all the way! Thats my next tank if I dont decide to get the 150! And put a 4" sand bed in it and its only 20" deep then lol.

Well, after talking with my girl, we decided to just go with a 75 gallon. WE have a kid due next month, this is the biggest reason we went with the 75. I will probably kick myself in the end, but this is where I stand as of now. Brought the tank home yesterday. now its time to get some sand, and get this thing rolling!

You definitely are I had a 75 and went to a 120. But you still will enjoy it either way.
