Hi

I have recently purchased a new 400L tank (48”x30”x24”).
This will be my first Saltwater aquarium. It’s being manufactured so I have a few weeks to wait before it is delivered.

In the meantime I’m slowly purchasing some of the equipment I need to spread out the spend.

The one I’m struggling with, is which wave maker to purchase for a 400L tank.

The tank will be in my living room so I am looking for as quiet as possible. I have looked at the AI Nero 7 but I can’t work out if I would need one or two. I have the budget to purchase one but not two.

Any recommendations on which makers and how many would be greatly appreciated.

your size tank should definitely have 2 sources of flow. 2 is always better than 1 to create random flow patterns, even my 15 gallon has 2 powerheads.

Have a look at gyres for this size tank though, I prefer gyres myself.

I have never had gyres, but watching videos I like what I see. I did have AI Nero’s at one time and did not like them. I felt that the flow was too narrow, but that’s my opinion. It didn’t spread out much across the tank. With your tank being 30”, I think there are better options. I’ve had good luck, so far, with the Jebao DMP’s. Two DMP 40’s would work well.

I’m sure others will chime in with other options.
