Any idea which fairy wrasse this specimen is? Got him/her for $30 since the Petco lost the tag and could not tell me who it is.

Thanks!

Red Longfin Fairy wrasse... aka the Devil incarnet for fairy wrasses..

It looks exactly like mine...

I think Quality Marine had a LOT of them, and started selling them cheap though Live Aquaria.
Would not suprise me if petco's got them.

But the spot in the rear, and the red and white looks like it.

But im sure Slocke will tell you for sure if its not that guy.

I’m guessing Cirrhilabrus brunneus but I’ll await others. It is still female I think so fairly hard to ID. There are about 80 species and they all look fairly similar when female but go male and then they become easy.

Edit: scratch that. Wrong tail. ISFTS guess of cyanopleura is a good guess. Rubeus aka the ruby longfin it is not as those are red.

I’m shocked yours is aggressive as it is clearly female. My male is never aggressive and they are usually only aggressive as males.

I struggle with fairy wrasse ID's, but possibly a female Bluehead Fairy Wrasse, Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura?

If not, I'm sure @i cant think @Slocke or one of the other wrasse fans can tell you for sure what it is.
You got a female in that group. They are almost all alike until they change sex.

I should snap a video of it going after my anthias.
It still does it.

And drives me crazy... there is no damage to any fish, but it stresses me out, as i really wanted a peaceful tank.

i cant think

Theres 2 species that are very similar as females, this guy is too purple/grey to be the affirmations species above.

The 2 species this is a female of are;
Cirrhilabrus iyukusensis (ryukusensis) - The reason for 2 species names is I see both spellings and have used both spellings so I’m not too sure which is right. I believe it’s ryukusensis though.
Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura.

I believe this is most likely a I/Ryukusensis as at the LFS I work at, I do most wrasse IDs and we have 3 females that are identical to this and we had male R/Iyuku’s come in.
