Which wrasse?

Stocking a nuvo 40, currently have 2 clowns. Next two fish will most likely be a royal gramma and a wrasse. The three for consideration so far are a Mccosker flasher, lubbocks fairy, or yellow corris. Leaning one of the first two. Any thoughts, concerns, favorites? Other recommendations?

I like utility wrasse. so ill go with yellow coris. fairy wrasse is show pieces that won't do much in a tank. Maybe get both wrasses if u can't decide

If you want a wrasse that is just pretty I would go with one of the first two. In our farm we love stocking yellow coris wrasses as they not only look awesome with their vibrant yellow color, but they are very active and will also help pick off any small pests on your corals. They are always in and out of the rock work so they never get boring.

Because of the dimensions of your tank, I would go with the yellow coris over the other two. Flashers and fairies may be smaller fish, but they have high activity levels so a tank that's 2' in length isn't ideal for them.

Yellow coris is a phenomenonal utility fish. Picks all kinds of nuisance critters off. Also, they provide a very vivid yellow splash that's not super common. Hard to go wrong with a McCoskers or Lubbocks as well. Honestly from a compatibility standpoint, they'd likely all get along as they are all from different genera.

My thought originally went to getting 2 of the three, but as @SaltyT stated 2 foot tank had me iffy on the idea.

Also the discussion on yellow corris being a utility fish was something I had not really considered and would be a huge plus!

I personally think the tank is too small for H. Chrysus as they get a nice size and are really active they burry in the sand so they need a good amount of sand as well. I’d go leuxocanthus they stay a little smaller but again they would need an upgrade. C. Lubbocki are some of the nicest Cirrhilabrus fairies. The Indonesian variant is the nicest IMO. These guys do get active so they will need an upgrade sooner rather than later. The P. mccoskeri are a nice fish pretty easy but these guys love to jump I’d say more so than the lubbocki and the chrysus. These are much smaller than other Paracheilinus and much more docile. Since these guys are super common personally I’d shoot for an other Paracheilinus like a flavianalis. These guys are really active as well so the same would go for these guys in terms of upgrade. All Flashers and Fairies are super active fish even though small so ideally a 90 gallon would be best long term maybe 70 pushing it. What other fish do you have in your tank?

Another nice wrasse you could consider is a pink-streaked wrasse aka Pseudocheilinops ataenia. They're great little coral pest hunters and very peaceful.

For some reason I was thinking it was a 3' tank.

That being the case, the Pseudochelinops @SaltyT suggested is actually an excellent choice. Have 2 in my tank and love them. They can be a bit cryptic, but are very docile and don't need as much swimming space as they tend to dart in and out of the rocks or hover in caves more.

If you do add Pink Streaks know they are very secretive and sensitive and very docile. Sometimes you won’t see them for days at a time and at the beginning for weeks.

If it’s not guaranteed I personally wouldn’t do the Lubbocki and potentially drop the yellow wrasse of choice if it starts getting a little too large for your set up.

Cirrhilabrus lubbocki is too active for a 2’ tank no matter which variant you get. The Cebu variant does get larger (closer to 3.5”) whilst the Indo remains about 3”. Most Cirrhilabrus will need Atleast a 3’ tank upgrade (Lubbocki I feel deserve a 4’ tank at minimum).
Paracheilinus species all need 4’ tanks at the bare minimum for good reason. These guys may remain small but when they display, they will use all the room they can get and in smaller tanks that often results in injuries caused by farting into rocks and glass.

In this size tank without guaranteeing that you will upgrade, you’re limited to 4 species and even then, those 4 species are too shy for your clowns who likely already rule the tank.
If you are certain in a year or two you can upgrade to a 3-4’ tank, you’re able to get a range of wrasses however even then, I’d stick to a Halichoeres species. The issue here is that many of these guys get large in a short period of time, my Iridis got beyond 4” in 3 years (he must be pushing 4.5 is not 5”). However he got to 3” within a year and then slowed in growth.
I agree with @Petcrazyson in going for the Silver Belly over the Chrysus as they remain slightly smaller but also if you want a bold yellow fish, go for something like a butterfly when you get that 4’ tank.

Now then, the 4 species that are ideal in your tank if you cannot upgrade in the next few years are;
.Wetmorella albofasciata
.Wetmorella nigropinnata
.Wetmorella tanakai
.Pseudocheilinops ataenia
The issue here is that they are going to be slightly less visible when you upgrade - I know not many people like this however I personally do. But due to them being so shy and timid, they are often hard to settle into the tank and even then, getting them to settle in a tank with a pair of already aggressive fish will be much harder. Clowns may seem alright until you add a new fish into their territory and some will just be PITAs.
