White Acro Bugs?

Ummm I’ve never seen or heard of such a thing but I have a G Carrol Ultimate Blue stag close to the glass and noticed little white fast moving bugs. It’s the only acro i see them on and it’s growing well along with everything else.

Anyone ever seen these?

I haven’t added anything other than a couple frags direct from a very trusted vendor in the past year (no snails etc)

If there are bugs crawling on live acropora flesh, those are not pods.

Not pods. Dip coral in either revive or coralRX - most effecyive on them. Also look for any evidence of eggs which are tiny

Thats what I was thinking as the colony is pretty healthy so should tolerate a heavy Revive dip ok.

Now I read there’s this Dr. G dip that contains interceptor but I’ll cross that path if Revive is in effective as it’s $60 a bottle shipped.

Dr G sometimes work and sometimes not and targets Black bugs which are near impossible to kill with dip

By pulling it out of the water, would some fall off? You would still have an affected tank.

Looks like Tegastes. Potassium chloride dip, then look at the dead bugs under a microscope to confirm. If one Acropora has them, assume that all Acropora do. Although potassium dips will kill most, some will survive and return. The only effective treatments are Interceptor (hard to get sometimes) and Ivermectin (available at Tractor Supply but is very lethal to all inverts).

KCl dips are effective at killing 95% of them. As an example, here are red bugs and white bugs off of a plagued coral dipped in Reef Primer for 5 minutes:

Poor color and PE on the base but tips are growing which is weird And it’s literally only this coral. If it wasn’t so near and dear to my heart I would probably toss it and move on.

Do you have a large dog? A buddy with a large dog? Get a scrip for Interceptor. "Good" pods don't walk on live tissue.

Google search this site and read up on Interceptor. It works. It is safe for corals. It kills these :) and all crabs & shrimp :(.

No dogs in my immediate social circle unfortunately. I know all too well about interceptor from red bugs 10 years ago. Thanks!

Dipped the affected coral in Potassium Chloride at 3g per liter for 15 minutes last weekend. Looking at it today they seem totally unaffected. Not sure if I should dip longer or stronger.

Those are not pods, I would suggest bayer insecticide
