white balance help

iv'e been struggling for the last couple of weeks to reattain a decent white balance so decided to buy myself one of those 18% grey white balance cards.


i positioned the card on the sandbed at a 45 degree angle and took the white balance from there


it didn't produce the results i was expecting.


daylight (even mix of white, blue and royal blue)



blue and royal blue (i redid the whitebalance after turning the white light off)





any suggestions? cos its not even close :/

btw, im using a fuji finepix s4000
 
I adjust mine in the camera's editing program that it comes with. You can adjust the white there and see what each individual picture looks like.
