I’ve noticed all these little white growths on the walls of my aquarium. Initially I was scraping them off as needed but then I thought maybe they were the beginnings of coralline algae (my tank is 6 months old). I took a closer look today when I removed my magnetic glass cleaner (they’re growing on that too).

When you look closer, they’re small spiral shaped crusty things. When I say small I mean like less than a millimeter. The “bigger” ones are almost shaped like macaroni. There are hundreds, maybe even thousands on the back wall.

Thoughts?

Spirorbid worms (they're a type of feather duster worm) - harmless filter feeders, though some people consider them pests because they can be unsightly in large enough numbers.
