What are all these white dots? I thought they were snails but they don't move. They have a hard shell and I have to scrape them off the glass. I have already ruled out the obvious. I've had multiple tanks for 10 years and have not seen this.

*please note. This is my dads tank. Not mine. :)

Do they look like little spirals? If they do they will have tiny feathers sticking out of them for filter feeding. I can't remember their name right now but someone will chime in soon. They are harmless and you have thousands them.

Colonista Snails. Usually come in as hitchhikers on LR. Mostly nocturnal harmless algae grazers. Wont get any bigger then that.

They are not the baby feather dusters. I have those all over the back wall.

Would they start off flat? They don't move at all. And when I scrape them off they leave like a calcium circle on the glass. But then 100's are back the next day.

Any way to get rid of them?

I have them too--from what i have researched they are collinista snails and are supposed to be very good for cleaning! People actually pay for these guys when a fellow reefer has them,I believe they may come and go just like other things in the reef world--example-asterina stars--some people will have hundreds of them for a little while-then all of a sudden they disappear.Do yours only come out at night?

No. they don't move. They just show up and are there all day and all night.

In that case you may be looking at Nerite Snail eggs. Laid during the night. Very flat, in bunches and hard to scrape off. Leaves a ring when removed. They will not hatch.

Nailed it! Just googled that and the images are exactly what is on his glass.

Why won't they hatch?

I just found the same thing all over my Purple Plume Gorgonian! Thought it was just sand but the realized they were perfect little sticky spheres. So did these Nerite snail eggs ever hatch?

I used to get those on my glass to Must have come in on a coral or something. I di buy some live rock but not sure it stayed live because I kept in in water for a few weeks but nevr feed it any food so could have lost the cycle! Were these eggs super tiny and magnified alot? i had over 0 zoas and corals deliverd from someone and there are white egg looking things all over the frag posts. When I google white eggs I dont see anything bad come up just snail eggs so I pray thats all they are!
