Weird white dots that are spread throughout the back wall. It’s sparingly spread out and relatively easily to remove with my finger nails.

I dosed metroplex with focus a few weeks ago but I only recently saw this. How about sand? Maybe some sand blew there? I wouldn’t expect it to stick to the glass the way these things do.

I really want it to be coralline algae.

YES! You are right! I noticed it had a shell appearance when I took it out of the water.

It is not coralline algae. Do you have snails in your tank? In my own tanks, I find this to be a result of something snails do.

It stops quickly. Clean in off and don't worry about it.

Take a good close look at the dots. Do they have a defined spiral shape to them? If so, the may be spirobid worms.. healthy and productive to your tank.

Would you know anything that can keep their numbers in check ?

I agree that they're probably spirorbid worms. They're harmless, if you don't want them on the glass just scrape them off . I remove them from the front or side glass of my tank, but leave them be on the back glass.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
