White Ribbon Eel

Morning guys,

I accusers a young White Ribbon Eel the other day. He is active and a great little addition.

Before anyone jumps in, I know they can grow big, I have a mate with a massive in-wall tank that wants him when he's too big.

My question is; he is an active feeder and more than willing to hand feed. I can't seem to cut the food small enough for him. If I do, what's the best practice to hand feed small food? A skewer...?

Feed him with tongs or forceps

Ooh, forceps, didn't think of that. Tongs I think would be to big.

Personally I would be wary of using like wood skewers as they could break and hurt someone or something. You could use this- Aquarium Fish Feeding & Feeders: Kent Marine SeaSquirt Feeder Which has a retractable prong/skewer (plus the the whole thing can extend so you can feed him at the bottom of the tank) or something like this- ASw 10" Straight Forceps

Well trying to eat. He takes a chop but can't swallow cause it's to big. Just spots it out again, this the basis of my conundrum. I was impressed with him. I've had a snowflake eel previously and wants to step it up a bit.

Lion fish lair has instruction on how to build a stealth stick for feeding. Almost negates the chance of damage from stick strikes that can cause a predator to stop feeding.

Wow, turns out I don't need a feeder stick after all. A little garlic sent him into a feeding frenzy. He went wild on the prawn. Only concern is that it may to be big for him. Smaller next time. He also has no concern having a dart at my little finger.

I didn't know there was a white version. Seen blues and blacks offered up every now and then. I'd like to try a ribbon eel, but theres not enough good info for long term success. Did you see the video, on youtube where they had black PVC pipe buried under the sand for them?

Years ago when I had an eel we had a plastic clear stick thing to feed our eel but now that I need one again I cannot find it anywhere. (I live in Reno now so that's not surprising) but it worked great! These days everyone uses tongs
