My tank is about 2 months old and all of a sudden I started to see stringy white slime pop up all over the tank. Thought originally that it might just be part of the ugly tank phase.

However I have been researching this and found that white slime is thought to be caused by plug in air fresheners. Sure enough I found my wife’s Pura air freshener plugged in after I had previously unplugged it and obviously didn’t hide it well enough.

man I’m ticked off. Unplugged the air freshener and opened up the windows.

Any ideas on how to clear this up in my display tank?

I'm not certain an air freshener would cause that. If it's something that has always been going why now?

I had something very similar. I sucked up as much as I could with a turkey baster, cleaned my skimmer (it was covered), then added some Microbacter7. It was gone in 2 days and hasn't returned. Good Luck

She recently just plugged it in because of a party we had. So the timing of this outbreak lines up.

I had unplugged it and hid it when I started up my tank a few months ago. Clearly I didn't hide it well enough.

Went through and sucked out a bunch of the strands with a turkey baster. Added some MicroBacter7.

Will repeat over the next couple of days as needed.

Aired out the house. Stopped using the plug-in air freshener. Daily manual removal of the white slime using a turkey baster. Dosing Microbacter Clean daily.

Starting to slowly get the white slime under control.

For the same reason, there are no plugin freshers close to our reef.

If you fire aerosol cans close by, it's a form of carbon that can do the same thing.

I am having the same problem currently. When dosing nurtibacter7, how much are you dosing? Also I am running a 20 Wb Cube. Thanks in advance!

I actually started using Microbacter Clean and it worked perfectly with the manual removal. Followed the instructions on the bottle.
