This white spot appeared a couple days ago, and I have been watching it closely. It hasn’t changed much, but may be a bit more prominent today. When I was checking on the fish today l, I noticed two raised spots on either side of the fish. They look like they could be abrasions, but I don’t know for sure. We recently added a Scopas Tang a couple weeks ago and there was some territorial disputes for the first week, but that seems to have gotten better. I did notice a vermatid snail tube in the area of of the sanded where my clowns blast the sand away with their tail. Is it possible it scraped itself on the tube? Any help IDing what this is would be appreciated.

While most tangs use their tail scalpels for defense, this may be after math of injury, even light tail strike and appears to be healing. As you are, keep an eye on it for improvement, and not becoming infected.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Looks like a couple of minor scrapes to me, it certainly isn’t one of really contagious diseases. However, as said, with the new tang added, you should be very observant for other issues cropping up.

This post describes the symptoms of the more serious diseases;

What would be signs of infection to look out for? I forgot to mention no reduced appetite and behavior is normal.
Where did you get the Scopus from and was he or did you QT him? Keep an eye out for now.
I got it from a LFS. I did not quarantine, but I saw the same fish at the store over the course of several weeks and didn’t notice anything off about it. I know I should have quarantined, but I don’t have the means to have two saltwater tanks running at once right now.

Thank you for the link. I will look that over. The white spot is gone this morning and the abrasions are almost gone too. I don’t think I would’ve thought much of this if it wasn’t for the white dot. I appreciates everyone’s advice and opinions.

Redness or sores but appears to be healing
