Hey my clown has a white string hanging from it should I do anything? The clown eats perfectly fine and looks healthy and swims around and even looks like it’s gaining weight since I got it a week and a half ago ? It also was not there this morning after I fed I checked and it’s there should I be worried?

It’s not an emergency. His normal behavior has already told you that.

it could be waste, I know some infections/parasites can cause white stringy excrement. If it doesnt go away, you could try a freshwater dip because it may be some sort of fluke/worm.

How long should i wait before i start trying to treat? and thanks so much for the help im new lol

This could be a few things, fish waste, a parasitic worm, epithelial lining from the intestines and more. The fact he is gaining weight and looks healthy is a good sign. He doesn't look bloated in the belly which makes me think it may not be a parasite. As long as his eyes are clear, he responds to stimuli and is healthy looking, everything should be fine : )

Looks like it’s just poop - diet can do it as can stress.
I wouldn’t be worried unless you see a continued pattern or other symptoms (bloating or weight loss, change in appetite, lethargy, etc.)

I posted that comment for two reasons:
1. Knee jerk response to treat fish with chemicals has killed more fish than all the pathogens added together.

2. Stress kills more fish than all the pathogens added together.

Two things I’ve learned from being in this hobby is most things will fix itself with time and to just buy the quality version of something first
