I'm interested in hearing about your miracle fish you have in the tank.....??

My size line wrasse jumped the tank (I have a lid but he managed to find the small gap!typical) So I found him lying on the lid sat by the cat for God knows how long :( I thought he was a goner! Put him in the tank quickly and moved him back and forth to get water through the gills (trick I learnt from my fisherman dad ;) ) and eventually he started to breath. So I risked Letting him go and he made his way to the bottom of the tank for a while. Surprisingly after 2 days being in a weird mucus bubble he made a full recovery and is swimming around like nothing has happened. 2 years in and he is still with me :) and definitely a tough little fish!

What stories do you guys have?

Awesome story! Love a happy ending.

I had a miracle purple dottyback. Survived in a rock crevice with barely any water in a bucket while I scrubbed down the tank. I freaked when I found him and, in my rush to get him into the tank, I dropped him. Slippery little guy was hard to pick up and I had to rough handle him. Made a full recovery only to die mths later in a freak filter accident :( he was a jerk but I loved that fish. He was my favourite

Oh man! I have a similar story. My male swallowtail angel made a run for it and hopped out behind the tank.

I was sitting on the couch just enjoying the tank when I heard something along our baseboard radiator. I perked up, along with my two dogs, and turned off my music to REALLY listen. There it was again! “Mouse!” Son of a! I head down to the basement to find a mouse trap as we always get one or two try and sneak into the house during the winter. Came up about 30 min later and set it where I thought the noise was coming from when I heard the scuffle again. “Brave little thing” I thought. Then I heard it again. I began exploring and found the angels tail sticking out from under the radiator!!!!

I moved fast and pull him out! He was so dry and I thought for sure he was gone! When I placed him in my hand, I felt his body tense up and saw his gill plates still moving. Out of panic, I put him back in the DT! Covered in a mess of fuzz and dust that collects under those radiators, he wasn’t moving and stiff as a board. His gill plates continued to move and his pectoral fins were moving but he had absolutely no swimming ability. The current blew him around while I began shutting the circulation pumps off. Before I got a chance, one of my MP40s caught him and clipped his streamers which caused him to jerk off the pump but still, not swimming. He eventually settled at the bottom corner. No longer blowing around, I turned the lights of and let him be. 30 min later he was swimming behind his rock! He didn’t come out until 4 days later, His belly bruised and burned. I ended up pulling him out and a month later, he’s made a full recovery in his very own hospital tank. He’s now back in the DT and is as active as ever!

Mine was my Oscar, Chester Cheato; I had a glass lid on my 75 but with cut outs for 2 AC 110 filters. Somehow over night he jumped out of 1 of the slits behind the stand. I found him the next morning very dry, my guess is he was on the floor for 4-9 hours. I put him in the tank, he sunk like a stone and I left the lights off and he laid on the bottom a few days if I remember correctly, eventually he started to move again and after a week he was good as new. I'm still surprised he survived that.

I had an snow flake eel that had a close call with death. Somehow it managed to lift a glass canopy enough to escape. I didn't even know he was missing until I sat on the basement stairs to put on my boots and found him on the steps. He was covered in dust and dog hair and his skin was dry to the touch. He could still move his mouth and body so I threw him back in the tank and within a day he looked good as new. He had covered a distance of about 16 feet to reach the basement stairs. After that event I kept a planter on top of my glass canopy.

I had a beta fish who’s tank had cracked at the bottom and leaked all the water out. Was completely drained by the time I found him. Stuck him in tap water and he was good as new the next day.

Also found a swordtail something or other (was a long time ago. Freshwater fish) under my bed during a water change. Bone dry. Covered in dust and hair. Somehow pulled through too.

Gotta love a happy ending :)
