Nice addition! I don't mind drywall if I mud it, but hate sanding someone else's mess.

Totally hate taping compounding and sanding. Hanging the boards not so bad... compared to sanding Haha

Certainly low on my list of things I enjoy. I don't have the magic flick of the wrist that makes an amazing smooth & tapered layer that requires very little sanding.

I finished my 2200sf basement, including ~120 sheets of 4x8 drywall. I paid the HD boys to haul it down the stairs for me but then hung it all by myself. That was easy. Then I taped and mudded. Still easy. Then I sanded. And remudded because I sanded too much. and sanded again. And mudded again. Aft3er the 4th or 5th try, I gave up and hired that part out. Best $$$ I ever spent.

I'll do the occasional patch job now, but I'll never touch another full size piece, and the place will mysteriously burn to the ground before I'll mud a spot bigger than 12"x12".

hi trick is light smooth coat light sand repeat 3x ,fill corners 1x then 1/2 next 2 coats so not trying tosmooth 2 edges and acenter line at once prime and then take care of low spots imo less you put on less sand

A buddy of mine and I did my mother-law's bathroom in August in Alabama. It took forever for the mud to dry due to the humidity. It really set us back time wise, we were working to 2 AM on the last day trying to finish, got about 2 hours of sleep and drove over an hour to Birmingham to catch a flight back home.

First house I bought was a pretty typical suburban, late 60's ranch. Single car garage, 3 bedrooms, bath and a half.

We have four daughters.

I bought it with the plan to put a bathroom and two bedrooms in the basement. Which I did, eventually. Drywall sucks. Cutting up a concrete floor to run drains is worse. Concrete dust EVERYWHERE.

Talked a friend into assisting with some drywall. Guy is 6' 11" tall. Hanging the ceiling, he was able to support the drywall with his forehead while running in the screws.

Did I mention I'm a software engineer? Never again. I'll happily get out my checkbook, thanks.

Know how many software engineers it takes to change a light bulb?

Sorry. We don't do that, It's a hardware problem.

Not a fan of bucket mud, mixing bagged compound thin is nice but a real pain when u are doing it by yourself. Always find friend to be the mixer while you mud... Plus they can keep track of the adult beverages!
Anyone have any ceiling to wall joints tips I have never needed to do them. Also what is the best tape/method.

Maybe it’s the artist in me but I love kidding and sanding. Hubbs hangs cause it’s too heavy for me. He’s really good at corners and stuff. He’s also a perfectionist so that makes the kidding pretty easy.

Do this after first coat dried, no initial sanding? Does it matter if it was premix or bagged compound used? I Never have heard of this before, I'll have to try next time.

A neighbor who is a general contractor taught me that - no dust. After mud dries (any coat) small chunk of 2x4 with damp rag lightly wrapped around it, swipe over it until smooth. Make sure you rinse rag and keep damp. Doesn't matter premix or bagged compound.
