Nice. How long have you had & what growth rate have you gotten?

I like seeing any of them, but was wondering if anyone might have a 12"+ beast.

I got it at around 3 or 4 inches sometime in January this year. So its grown a solid 2 inches over 5 months. My LFS has a 12 inch one and its a beast!

Another 6 incher, he grew from under 2" to a solid 6" in under 3 years. He went blind due to copper poisoning. 30 years ago before the internet and digital photography I had one for over 10 years, he was over 10". He grew from about 2-3" to about 6" pretty quickly, then slowed down. I do see these guys close to the 12" mark, they seem to top out 5-6 years in.

Those are some beauties. I'm picking up a humu tomorrow. Definitely adding a niger now.

This is what I've been wondering. Dang that's a long time to wait. I wish I could find triggers that people have tank raised to 6" or bigger.

That's what I've done several times over. From time to time I get a few triggers; Niger's, picassos, clowns, and blue lines all under 2". Then raise them up for larger tanks around town. A tank raised trigger is a better tank mate than a larger wild caught one.

Ask your lfs and put your feelers out. Niger's are commonly gotten by people without the adequate size tank, they outgrow the tank, then have no way to care for them. Many lfs will just turn down a trade in, because a large Niger is hard to place. If they know you are looking for one, maybe they'll have someone wanting to rehome.
