Okay so I have been cycling my tank. I am doing various mini cycles until I’m able to get from 2ppm to 0 in 24 hours. This was going good and I was almost finished until I decided to do a water change and noticed my ammonia spiking to .4 ppm after that . I tested my water and I’m reading .4 ammonia. I decided to then purchase a new DI Resin believing maybe I have wasted through it. I replaced the filter and yet I’m still getting the same readings? Help!!!!!!!!! P.S I’m getting 0 TDS

Maybe your test has gone bad. Did you try another one?

Test after 24 hrs as when you change water, you ate stirring up silicates and detritus , which will show slight ammonia

If you are testing RODI and you get a ammonia reading it is chloramines which breaks down into ammonia

Yes I do that and the test come back At 0, but I am worried about the ammonia levels in my RODI system. There are time though where my ammonia spikes even after a day which is odd.

So what would you recommend me to do in this case? I am getting my source from tap water, which I filter through an RODI system
Chloramines will make you go through filters like a roll of toilet paper. I have a 8 stage RODI with triple di and chloramine buster pre RODI. I now use distilled. What is your total system volume?

I have an IM 20 nuvo. It has 20 gallon tank capacity but holds about 16 gallons of actual water volume . I find this RODI to be very quick in producing water, however recently I have had this ammonia issue which is quite the frustration!

If you test your display tank 24 hours after a water change and ammonia is zero the bacteria in the tank has processed the ammonia and in the process increased your nitrates as well.
