Why,...Are UV Sterilizers So Expensive ???

I ran across this thread browsing so I checked the price of the unit I currently have and its almost double of what it used to be. Seems they have gone up as everything else. The dollar just doesn't stretch the way it used too. As others said its best to get a tried and true one that is serviceable and you can get replacement parts. Otherwise it will just get you in the long run when you have to replace one that isnt serviceable.

I'm not sure what happened, but prices have just gone higher. And BRS carries Lifegard UV now. That same exact UV I have is now $700 for everyone. Same model as what I purchased.

Also I read a post they use sacrificial pvc liners which you are supposed to change every year. That was a post and it was glowing

I have a couple of Odyssea that have been running without issue for 15 years. Change the bulb, light cleaning, good to go

I realize it depends on price and brand, as this is from only one retailer, but $450 then how many bulbs per year.....?
