I have an established mixed reef going on 5 years now and I have never been able to keep zoas. I always thought they were the easiest thing to keeo? I have about 20 others corals in a 135g and everything else has grown huge from frags 5 years ago. Have good lighting( kessils)and calc mag and alk are always in line as well as nitrates and phosphates. I've tried different flow patterns but never have any luck. Usually when I try them they live for a few months but never open up and then eventually just fade away and die for some dang reason lol I can't figure it out?

High flow?

Many Zoas tend to melt away if stressed by too much direct flow.

Fish incompatibility?

Some fish that you would never think would, will nip at zoas until they stress out and die. Foxface rabbitfish can turn on you and eat zoas. Same with URCHINS!

Many zoas don't have palytoxins and become a source of food for some ROGUE fish
