Why can't I post in Looking-to-buy?

This made me look. I’ve started 20 threads, granted i have nothing to sell as i hoard my old equipment in case of a need to repurpose it. Welcome to the reef!

We'll appreciate anything you can provide :)
My first posts were... um... something.... ha!
I can provide that I like fish and reefs.
That close to EVERYTHING can be found if you use the search option on forums, because chances are, your questions have been asked, and the replies you get are people saying "search the forum history".
I know that I'm a newb in this field, being I've only had 1 tank for 5 years. I know that I like figuring stuff out on my own without posting every question that comes to my mind, and having a feeling of satisfaction when I find solutions through the current day internet.

I'm gonna dig deeper!!! What KIND of fish and corals?!?!?! I'll try to help you get to that limit :)

Completely understand, when I get bored I actually try to respond to the "Unanswered Threads" by literally doing just that, searching through the forum and posting the thread that contains the information needed.

Looks like you have a 75 gallon, can you share a photo or two??

*Edit: I like to picture myself as the "Let me google that for you" app.

Usually, I tell people to ask a question again. You will get different opinions and advice catered to your specific situation

Gotcha. So I have a real question for you, with you being a moderator and all,

What "counts" as a meaningful post? Are the 12 posts I have already all considered meaningful? Do we get alerted or notified once we reach your official 25 meaningful posts? How do we keep track of our current status?

By all means, I can go give people answers to their questions, but they would most likely be wrong, inefficient, and useless information.

I want to know what the requirements of a meaningful post are. Sure, I get I have to comment more than one word, but I want to know REQUIREMENTS. What passes, and what doesn't. Instead of replying "Nice", or "cool", does adding in a, "wow. that's cool" count? Or do I need more than 3 words? Very confused as to who came up with these rules, and the actual requirements they demand.

Really thought the internet was already filled with enough wrong information

Now you are just post padding with complaints and silly questions . No, they are not quality posts, but you already know that. You’re moaning and complaining that you have to participate in a community designed for participation. You literally only want access to the user base for buying and selling, which for the nth time, is not the purpose of this site and exactly why the very rule you decry is in place.

The rule is aimed at people doing EXACTLY what you are doing here... post padding to gain access to the marketplace, with no intent to participate otherwise.

I am not a moderator or staff, but if it were up to me this thread would be removed and your post count reset to zero.

I think it's a combination of reasons, the purpose of the forum isn't to sell/buy, yes that's a benefit/added bonus, but not the meat and potatoes.

Thanks for your opinion, buddy 😊 Does that count towards a meaningful post for you??

However, I was asking a moderator. Thank you though!
