I'm quite disappointed I can't post in the looking-to-buy section and don't understand why. TBH, it was the main reason I joined this community a couple weeks ago. I'm not new to reefing, just happen to be a new member of this R2R forum. About ready to say screw it and be done with all this..
what the heck gives..

Hi there!
Marketplace access is restricted to newer accounts.
Per marketplaced rules listed in our Terms Of Service
  • The sales forum on Reef2Reef is available to members that have been a member for 30 days and have 25 meaningful posts (A meaningful post will involve more than saying things like "nice tank" or "I agree." Something meaningful will often be sharing one's knowledge and experience with others and actively participating in hobby related discussions). Use of this forum is available immediately to R2R Supporters (Want to be a Supporter? Click here!).
  • Participation in R2R's marketplace (buying, selling or trading) is restricted to members aged 18 years or older.
  • The use of the sales forum is for members that contribute in the regular forum (To understand what we mean by "members that contribute," please see the above statement regarding meaningful posts).
Hope this helps!

Welcome, glad you are here, I have been a member here since 2022 and I still can’t use it, I have yet to make a meaningful comment. Patience your Jedi!

😂 I guess I don't feel as bad now. What a stupid rule to have...

There is nothing stupid about it.

This is a community for discussing reef aquariums, not craigslist or facebook marketplace. You openly admit you only joined here to be able to buy and sell. That is not the primary or even secondary purpose of this site. Marketplace participation is a fringe benefit of being a participating member, and therefore to gain access to the benefit, the ownership and community asks that you be a meaningful participant.

Ahhh..., my bad.

I didn't realize people need to offer their 2 cents in communities in order to buy or sell. My mistake.

Rules like this are put in place to get people involved in our community and to prevent the frequency of scammers. If anyone were allowed to sell or buy on the marketplace, you would have countless bot accounts trying to scam people because they wouldn't be required to do anything other than make an account.

I know it might sound overkill, but we do it to protect our community

Gotcha. Well hopefully everyone always wants to hear and read my opinion, because I don't really have much of one on most subjects. I'm no wizard full of wisdom, unfortunately 🥴

"overkill" for real... There's got to be dozens of easier ways to prevent "bots" from posting. I thought the technology and transactions in 26' would have gotten easier to interact with an online community, not the other way around... once again, my mistake. ☹️
