Why do I get looks at the grocery store?

I have a predator tank with a puffer and eel. Sometimes I go to the grocery store and I get 2 squid tentacles, 2 oysters, 3 mussels, 2 steamers, etc. I always get a look from the fish counter guy. I'm sorry I am getting $0.16 of mussels!

I always feel like I need to explain myself.

Today I asked for 3 steamers. He asked "3 pounds?" No, 3 small steamers!

I kept a 4' Gymnothorax Undulatus (undulated moray) for 25 years. Early on I would get the same sort of looks. Then I took a couple minutes and explained what I was doing. After that, they (the kroger seafood counter) would keep things that were a day or so past their "sell-by" date and let me have them for greatly reduced prices (or free, depending on who was working that day). Being that he could easily take care of 2-3lbs/week, I'm sure they saved me a huge amount of $$$ over the years.

25 years! That's awesome, nice job! I have a dwarf golden moray. He's not eating 2 pounds of food, lol. He acts like he wants to, lol.
