Why is my encrusting coral doing this?

I bought this piece as an encrusting coral. I glued the fully encrusted frag to this larger rock, expecting it to encrust the rock. Instead, the coral is doing this Marilyn Monroe thing. What gives?

Kinda looks like a chalice which in general will plate. Looks great to me!
 
Man, I really hate it when that happens... That being said, I'll take it off your hands! ;)
 
I guess I was disappointed it isn't encrusting and covering the rock. But, you're right that I should be happy it looks good. Thanks for the replies, guys. It does look good! :)
