My tank has been up for almost 2 months. Went through a very short diatom phase, i still get some on the glass. Now there is some greening happening but there’s no algae coming off it. What could this be? Disc

I barely see any algae. Are you talking about the tiny amount of green on the crushed shells?

I don’t know if it’s algae or a sign of the beginning of some kind of algae. Just hoping to see what it is

This is surface and film algae and often associated with new tanks especially those just completing their cycle and is much better than appearance of diatoms.
You can reduce while light intensity and/or hours of white lighting and add a few snails such as : astrea. cerith, nassarius and turbo grazer

Nassarius will work on the bedding. Add some of the others listed

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
