Why is my TDS fluctuating?

I noticed my TDS was reading 1 so I replaced the sediment filter and the di resin. And it was reading 0 and now it went back up to 2. It doesn’t make sense. Should I just not worry?

Only way to truly know is to send some "high" tds rodi water in for a icp. Mine got to a hundred something, I sent a icp, and the only thing detected was silicate. Now I know what's in it is not harmful. People dose silicate. Sometimes I intentionally let it get high if I think I could use some silicate in the system

Yeah it has been two and a half years although I thought they were supposed to last around 5 years? But I do use it a lot.

Mine lasts about 1 year and i do very little water changes, but your water where you live is probably different than mine.

I'm sorry, I guess I'm not familiar with the BRS built in TDS meter. I know the little handheld ones need to be calibrated. I use those in-line digital TDS meters from HM. I know these need to be installed in the right orientation to accurate:

Okay. I assume 1-3 TDS will be okay for a fowlr tank right? I upgrade Hewbie’s tank tomorrow and made a ton of water not realizing TDS wasn’t 0 until after the first batch was made.

I would think so, but I don't know for sure, and I don't want anything to happen to such a cool fish! But typically for fish you can even use dechlorinated tap water in an emergency, so 1-3 TDS seems like it should be fine for your guy.

1-3 TDS is fine, problem is you never know what that TDS is.

Yeah could be anything. Also I kind of feel bad using/making so much water since my area is in the worst drought it’s ever seen. I think the entire northeast is right now. Oh well I do it for Hewbie.

I'm in central New York, not too far from you at all, and I didn't know that! Sorry to hear that! I don't think we are experiencing a drought, we've had a fair amount of rain lately, so I'll send some your way ;-)

Lucky you! I’m in Pennsylvania and there’s a wildfire burning near me among many others. I kind of never thought this area would experience what it’s been experiencing makes me sad. It rained the other day but only for a bit/a drizzle and definitely not enough. I just Googled it…seems that only part of the state is in a drought.

I'm going to be honest, I feel bad making RODI water with all the waste water. I'm honesty just letting all that waste water go down the drain, and I really should try to collect it and water my lawn or do something useful with it lol!
