I've been dosing CyanoClean for several months now. I just read where it's not shrimp safe. So far I guess no harm but I'd better go back to Chemiclean because it's not working.

Seems odd that a bacterial additive would not be shrimp safe, whether it works or not.

Where did you read it is not?

Bear in mind that killing cyano can release toxins in the cyano.

I read that on BRS's site product info. Seems a bit strange as it also says to refrigerate and turn off the skimmer. I've been using it now for 6 weeks without much luck.

I only read BRS saying it is “Reef Safe”.

Can you clarify what you saw? was it a customer review?

If you mean Korallen-Zucht CyanoClean it doesn't say anything about not being reef-safe or shrimp-safe on their website. I've checked both English and German text. It doesn't say anything about it.

On BRS I have not found anything about this either.

I think that's a mistake. I can't think of a reason why non-pathogenic bacteria would be dangerous to shrimp or plants and no other shop mentions this. "No" is probably the default value on those tables and was never set.

I agree it is likely a typo. KZ says nothing about that on their site that I could find, and a product cannot, IMO, be reef safe and not shrimp safe at the same time.

Yeah, probably something lost in translation. I'm seeing mixed messages as to whether to leave the skimmer on or off during adding. I'll try leaving it off for several hours after dosing both this and Microbe-Lift. Further I knoweth not.

double check the product page?
I haven't been shutting off my skimmer either when dosing this and Microb-Lift. Will start doing that and advise.
I left my skimmer on when i used it. Worked fine for me.

It’s a slow working product so you don’t really notice results until about 2-3 weeks in

Well, I'll order some Coral Snow then and try to speed it up a bit.
I am not sure there is any actual evidence that Coral Snow does anything to eradicate cyano. I am open to being wrong.
