Good luck and have fun!

Be careful of the black substrate you buy. Some of them have metal particulate in the sand. If you use a magnet for glass cleaning it will pick them up and you risk scratching the glass.

I just did a black sand tank to breed RFAs. I got artificial black sand. I even took a strong magnet to the store to test it on the sand inside the bag. It was so clean, that when I washed it before I put it in the tank, there was absolutely no dust! And crystal clear water right from the start.
Do you remember the exact product?

Added another MP 10 to the tank acouooe of days ago. And should be picking another one up today. Tank will have a total of 4 MP 10 once it's said and done.

She's lucky I didn't add some MP 40 in there.

That's a lot of mp10s! How are you running them?
Right now I have 2 running in child anti-sync, and the 3rd is running just reef crest. Once I get the 4th one I'll pair it up with the 3rd and have it running child anti-sync running on a different schedule than the first 2

On day 6 of #DSR and all is well. NO3 is going down and PO4 has gone down a bit. Our 3rd time re-wrapping the #DSRpowerfilter and then remembered that I had 2 Neptune WAV pumps not being used, so I decided to use the magnets. And then also remembered that these magnets are pretty strong as well.

The Sicce .5 pump fit perfectly and just had to zip tie it down to the magnet.

Placed pump in tank and ots holding strong.

This is one day later. I will be relocating the pump so ots not an eye sore.

We went to the Restore store and found a cabinet for all the gear. It's pretty big but for the price and what I plan on putting in it should work out just fine.

Some progress on the controller cabinet. Figured I'd use the bottom section for the additives. Don't want to put the ATO res in there as it might be a tight fit.

Ordered some 2 inch grommets that should be here Wednesday.

Here is all the equipment going into the cabinet
