So I am still tossing around which wifi led light to get and was wondering more about the apps for the black box wifi units. are the apps interchangeable? if so is there one that users have found to be better than others?

Apps are not interchangeable. Each brand is going to use their own app. The black box wifi apps work, but are a pain in the butt sometimes. Another user on here was using the SB Reef light wifi app and had said he hated it as it was difficult to use and settings would change randomly or forget the lights completely. What size tank and what corals are you going to be keeping? That'll help for my light recommendation.

I have used the Reef Radiance and SB Reeflights apps. The Reef Radiance were a pain to use. On the other hand, the SB are simple and never have given me a problem in about 16 month's of use. JMO

its a clarity plus 25gal flat back hex I have a current orbit pro on it now which seems too weak want enough light for mainly softies and a bta have no interest in sticks. I have been going back and forth between black box and AI prime HD but the budget is pulling me towards the black box

In the long run the AI Prime HD would be more worth it in my opinion

What's your budget? I went with the AI Prime HD and really enjoy using the app. I have multiple units linked, when I set up another tank with other AI models, I'll be able to control different tanks at a time through the same account. Updating light formate is automatic and simple. One unit wasn't really in my budget but I'm glad I saved up for it as I now have two that work seamlessly together and I couldn't be happier.

And cloud control out of the box so once your account is set up, you can log into your account from any browser and control your lights. I will add that now that my lights are set to a schedule that works, I don't modify the schedule but since my tank is in my living room, I sometimes use the app to start sunset earlier in manual mode and that works great from the app.

On top of that, AI customer support and warranty are excellent if you ever have any issues.

I was hoping to spend around $100.00 since I also still need to increase water movement I am currently using a maxijet 1200 as my return and have a hydor nano assisting in water movement which does not seem to be enough at this point

Is your tank about 36 wide, 12 deep, and 16 high? What coral are you looking to keep? Do you think your current light is providing insufficient PAR? What if you focused on circulation first if that's more of a concern and then if you can save up, get a light that you really want, even if you have to wait to save up for it. I just feel like I can either get a light with great PAR or a light with great wifi functionality and customer/warranty support, not both at that price.

I think the dims are 24 wide, 18 deep and 24 high want to keep mainly softies and possible LPS. The orbit pro is only 23 watts so yes I think its insufficient.
