Will a sump be easier? UNS R75 Satisfaction?

After a decade long break I am thinking about starting a tank back up. I never got super into it but I did always enjoy it. I have 2 young kids and think they would enjoy it.

I have a 15 year old IM Nuvo Mini 38 tank (curved glass edges AIO tank) it was fine for the most part with the exception of never being able to get a skimmer to work properly and thr tight rear chambers. I never had an ATO which made things much more difficult.

Im debating getting it up and going again (actually leak testing it now as its sat in a hot garage for years). But the thought of a more attractive tank also went through my mind - I dont like the curved edges of the 38 and wonder how much easier a sump system could be.

Are most people happy with their UNS R series Setups? I read a few reports of the ATO not working properly and essentially just emptying into the tank once filled - has this been figured out?

I want easy and easy to keep clean. I want stability. Thinking basic soft corals, 3-5 reef safe fish, just a simple but pretty tank.

The equipment and market for Nano has drastically improved in the last 15 yrs.
I like AIO brands like IM and Waterbox because you can design the system with the equipment you like.
Try using the search engine specific to the brand of system you're interested in.

Issues with the ATO dumping typically arrise from the float valve not being tuned properly, or the water level not being set properly inside the overflow; causing fluctuation in the sump water level. The mechanism in for the ATO is super simple (just a float switch, ball valve, and resevoir), so they are easy to troubleshoot as well!

Thanks for the info. Are the R75s in stock in the USA? Im also considering the R90 for the larger sump and larger factory ATO..

Sumps for me are a nice way to keep the stuff out of the tank, so the tank looks cleaner.

Its also extra water volume, and I think mid to larger tanks (up to like 300gal) are easier to maintain and more forgiving.
