Hello all, I have red slime on my sandbed, and I also have corals on the sandbed. I’m just wondering if it’s partially on them, will it end up killing them? I have a plan to get rid of red slime by doing a 20% water change, clearly out back chamber where food gets stuck (I have a biocube), and putting some media to lower phosphates. And then finishing it off with chemiclean.

I have only experienced red slime once and caught it very quickly. I would assume it can choke coral out if it’s allowed to grow onto it. I took out my infected rock scrubbed the offender off in extracted tank water then replaced the rock. Added a protein skimmer and phosX which I tested for phosphate and had none but still felt right to do. Also boosted the flow to insure no dead spots. Honestly great flow and a protein skimmer are 2 of the best options for treatment and prevention in my opinion. I wish you the best

It will only kill them if you let it cover the coral
