Wood floor protection

What would you use under the feet of say a water box aquarium stand. To keep the feet from damaging the wood floor underneath the stand feet?

I hate to start the responses to your question with one of extreme pessimism, but I would only put an aquarium in a room with a floor that can afford to get ruined. If the tank is large enough and it is there long enough, water-accidents will come eventually your way. :(

Are you trying to prevent mechanical damage or saltwater damage?
For mechanical a piece of hard, birch plywood.
For saltwater, something like a truck bedliner.
I also have foam tiles in front of the aquarium to catch minor splashes and drips

I’m thinking mechanical. I’m working on replacing my my current 150 gallon system. I’m not to worried about spills etc been there done that to many times to count. I was just trying not to put dents in the floor from the contact points from the stand. My current tank has a wide wood base that spreads out the weight evenly. So my thought was to have a piece of black pvc board cut the with and length of the stand. Then placing the tank and stand on top. I think my idea may work. However I asked the question to see if someone else has done something similar.

So we never use feet on tanks larger than 120g. These go right to the floor with a rubberized mat between.

Lower than that we simply use felt circles.

You want to have the weight at the contact points spread out. I cant say if pvc will accomplish that. Depends on thickness, i dont think it is as hard as wood

The tank I’m installing is a Waterbox 180 . 60x24. The tank holds 130 gallons according to the on line information. With the water volume being 178 gallons for the system volume.

I use wood shims but the thinnest part of it that way the feet are on those instead of my hardwood floors.

Rubber mat in addition to anything else, to catch any water.

I have a parquet floor and own reef and other tanks for like 18-ish years now. I use a 1.5cm piece of plywood that I varnished and some thin plastic sheet between the floor and the plywood.
I drip salt water on the floor all the time and wipe it away within minutes. But usually I put towels down on the floor when I work on or in the tank. The floor around the tank looks no different than all the other floors in the house. The only thing I do from time to time is to use some standard wood floor care product to treat the floor sometimes as you would normally do even without a tank.
