I ordered some middle keys as an emergency stock a while back. I shared about it on a local forum and a couple ppl said they had phosphate leaching issues with theirs. Has anyone else seen this?

It would be easy enough to test. Drop a cup of it in a gallon of new salt water and turn on a little pump. Test a few days later. Do you know if this test was performed?

Too answer your question no I am not having any algae issues from using the middle keys product. I run a carbon reactor with gfo all the time so any phosphate would be removed anyway. Don’t see why theirs would be appreciably higher than TLF product. Both are coral skeletons. One from the pacific and one from the Atlantic or the gulf. Mine is working very well at keeping my alk and calcium stable.

Yeah, BRS showed 20 of the big boxes in stock around 6:30 pm ET .... all gone when I checked back an hour later. My understanding is that it will be regularly available again by the Fall.

Ok, back in stock on Amazon it appears.

The middle keys stuff is also available.

Looks like between these two and other alternatives no reactors will have to stop working.....just don't tell Iran.

I got my first (of three) bag of Reborn large size in the 8.8 lb size.

I have to say I am unimpressed on a few counts:
a) the chunks are like the size of a pencil eraser. This is more like gravel aragonite.
b) a disappointing amount of snails and small shells are present.
c) price increase (of course I knew that before but...

Am I being too particular here, grumbling on about nothing?

I heard from a few parties that it wasn't like old reborn. They showed pics of lots of small random bits, not just decent sized actual coral chunks. Can anyone confirm? Is it like the old days or not quiiiite the same?

Thanks!

This is a pic I was sent, comment was, lots of little quartz pieces (used to just be the bigger coral bits):

Just bought the 44 pounder from BRS

Did you actually GET the 44 pound box? I ordered two, but then got an 'oops' email that they had a stocking error and only had the 8.8 pound bags.
