I purchased some corals in store to have shipped out at a later date, but decided against the purchase and decided to cancel the order. My buyers remorse really stemmed from the over blued-out windex frag tanks and not being sure I would be happy with what I recieved and put in my 20k T5 lit tank.

WWC refunded 80% of the total and charged a ridiculous 20% restocking fee, even though the corals never left the store. This is just scammy business practice and anti-consumer mentality. Their excuse was the time it takes to "re-quarantine the frags", although the frag tanks for sales have hands in them all day and frags moved from the various tanks in the back into them. Maybe don't put corals to be shipped in pest filled holding tanks so they don't require aditional quarantining if that's going to be your excuse. WWC should stop this farce about contanimation risk to justify punishing a customer cancellation when all corals in any of their tanks have already gone through a quarantine process. I guess pests can spontaneously burst into existence from one of their tanks to another and that supposed risk requires charging 20% fee. WWC stole $100 from me to move 5 frags from one tank back to another. Oh, but they would gladly give full store credit to continue doing business with them and their shoddy behavior.

In all my years of being in this hobby, this is one of the crummier things I have experienced from a vendor.

"Any cancelled online orders will receive a 20% restocking fee. For items not in stock that have been special ordered and/or aquariums purchased to be installed or picked up at a later time- should there be a cancellation by the customer there will be a 20% restocking fee"
This statement recieved on receipt after purchase doesn't say anything about in-store purchases, but WWC is going to group it in anyway.

Hi David,

I am sorry to see the way you feel about our order cancellation policy. It looks like you were in our store on Feb 9th and placed an order to be shipped out while here. You called us 6 days later, right before it gets shipped out, to inform us that you would like to cancel the order because you changed your mind and don't want the corals anymore. We offered you 100% back in credit to avoid the cancellation fee, but you opted to get the refund minus the 20% cancellation fee instead, which we have issued you(this was your choice, nothing was "stolen"). We clearly have our cancellation policy posted at the front register where you made your purchase, is posted on multiple areas on our website, and is also on the receipt that we emailed you while you were still in our store on the 9th. Unfortunately, what you are saying is simply not true.

It is best to refrain going to stores, taking the employees time picking out and setting aside corals for you to be shipped even though the tanks are "windex blue", then asking for a full refund 6 days later. As a consumer, you have to hold yourself accountable for your own "buyers remorse", as there are usually consequences to making decisions/purchases as such. If you do not want something, do not purchase it. This will be the first and last response to your post. Wishing you all the best and happy reefing.

Yes, I cancelled 6 days after purchase and 4 days before shipping out, but not sure what that has to do with anything. Although you mention timeline, that really has nothing to do with your terrible customer service and punitive fee right? I obviously didn't see the posted signs of cancellation policy or wouldn't have bought with WWC since they are anti-consumer.

This is the wording at the bottom of the email receipt, which is post transaction so really doesn't do much for your case and alerting the customer of said fee. I didn't purchase online, so your stated policies on there don't apply. The sale wasn't completed, and wasn't purchased online.

I didn't choose to get a 20% fee taken from me, I told you on the phone that if you don't fully refund I will put in a chargeback on my card because I don't agree to it. Again, I don't want store credit because that would require having to continue doing business with WWC.

The whole "holding myself accountable" is hogwash and you know it. Next time you return something anywhere, ask yourself if you're being selfish by returning or just things changed in life? Maybe you could offer up to pay an additional fee that isn't required to that reasonable retailer since you need to atone and be accountable for your actions. This shows your true colors more than mine. Great customer service like this from WWC should bode well for the company into the future.

Will continue this conversation with you and the credit card company through the dispute since you prefer that process.
