2 part question)

Im looking to get 1 fire shrimp so part 1) my 2 clowns (which are the only fish I have in the tank) are still very small would a fire shrimp be ok with them?

And part 2) I have a gap around the front and back of my tanks lid big enough for a shrimp to get out of.. would it escape? Weird that I can't find anyone ask this question should I have a fully enclosed lid?

Thank you in advance for your help and not making me feel silly here as a newbie, I have always had such great responses! Brilliant forum!

Yes a fire shrimp would be fine in your tank, you could also include a Skunk cleaner shrimp. They are not likely to climb out of your tank but I would definitely advise you to have some kind of cover over the top of your tank. Some fish are known to be suicidal.

Sure you can have both! Here is a pic of my current Biocube 29 with a pair of Miami White clown fish and a fire shrimp. I also have a Royal Gramma in there and he don't mess with the scrimp neither.[emoji4]

The problem with fire shrimp is they usually hide all day and only come out at night... Thats why cleaner shrimps get my vote.

Wow they are beautiful!! Ha ok that's great news! I have heard they can be hidden for a lot of the time, people say to get two and they become less shy. I don't think Ill do think yet but maybe one day! 5 years, thats great. I have only just started this hobby and can't wait to have that sort of life span!

For a while I ran fishless and open top. I have a Fire Shrimp that I've had for about 2 years now and he's never attempted an escape. But I have in the past had Clowns that like to carpet surf.
