wrasse question

ok I have a mccoskers wrasse and wanted to add a rainbow wrasse do you think they would get along in a 180g tank?

Are you talking about Thalassoma lucasanum? If so, then this is not a reef safe fish. It will eat anything that will fit in its mouth. McCosker's are pretty docile. I had one in my 75g with a large Hoeven's wrasse and never had an issue.

Stick with anything in the Cirrhilabrus or Paracheilinus genus, and you shouldn't have any issues (there's a few exceptions with certain species in each of those genuses, but I digress).

Here's the issue with that link you shared:
The two fish pictured are NOT the same species.
The first one is the Indo variant of Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura (Blue Sided Fairy)
The second is a Cirrhilabrus solorensis (Red Head Solon Fairy)

What they're trying to show is the later of the two species listed, which is commonly called the Red Head Solon or Clown Head Fairy. I've never heard anyone call it a rainbow fairy. The first species has a LOT of color variation depending upon collection region. If that's the fish you seek, you most definitely will want to purchase from a WYSIWYG source or a LFS. Otherwise, what you end up with may look VERY different.

Either of these species will be fine with the McCoskers, however the Solon's are sometimes a little aggressive with other Cirrhilabrus wrasses. Just something to keep in mind if you plan to add more Cirrhilabrus wrasses down the road.
