Awesome tank! Have you looked into obtaining a magma wrasse? I haven't been able to find much information on availability and price-point. Thanks bud!

Very nice build. Do you know at what rate your return pump is running?
I was wondering if the 20" overflow runs at full capacity (2500g) or would a 16" overflow be sufficient.
I am planning a similar build.
TIA.

The market was pretty flooded with them upon their discovery last year for a short bit, then collection stopped. But collection has recently resumed this year, and there is already some on the market in the US today.
Considering it's in the jordani sub-group of the lanceolatus complex, temperament should be pretty mild and should mix with other species relatively easy. Hopefully I'll find out soon enough. ;)

I'm running it at 70%; factor in head-loss and it should be around the 1400-1450gph mark.
Any updates, Hunter? :)
Well, sure, but sans photos (of course!). ;Sorry ;Stop
Overall, things are good - the fish that are in the tank are well and the corals are doing great. Acro growth has been pretty ridiculous and I need to take photos for that alone.
Elsewise, cyano has been persistently annoying, and unsightly enough that I don't want to take photos. :p I had it bad on the sand initially, and then it started to cover up the rocks. While it's died out on the sand bed, it's still persist on the rockwork and going on 2 months now. ;Rage I'd much prefer to just wait it out and let it die off on it's own, but I'm starting to lose my patience on it...
On the QT front, I will humbly say that I've had hell. I pretty much wiped out both QT tanks twice, and I can't even explain what or how it happened, which was increasingly frustrating. After sterilizing them and starting fresh again, things have been good - so certainly there was "something" in them at least.
I'd rather not dwell on what I lost in the process, but all that successfully came out of QT and is now in the DT was a young rhomboid (and now just starting to transition) and a candy bass (which may or may not have been the third attempt from QT ;Drowning).
So needless to say, my confidence took a hit recently, but at the end of day - things in the DT stayed consistent and this is why we QT things, right?

My oldest (and last remaining) johnsoni died off a couple months ago, but I saw that handwriting on the wall - he was clearly at the end of life. And I had him 5-6 years, so I feel pretty good about it. I'll definitely get another one (or more). It seems that my isosceles may now not be too far behind, but the big 'ol lineatus in the tank is putting some unnecessary stress on him too. Hopefully when the next couple fish come out of QT in a couple weeks it will help disperse the attention of the lineatus.

Love candy basses!! Aww man, you've had some terrible luck thus far with the QT. You might wanna just stop talking about it altogether, for superstition's sake. Beautiful tank and awesome scape, love the inhabitants! And I commend you for using acrylic..I'm too scared to use it even for a custom 30, even if my fears are displaced, LOL. ;)

;Jawdrop ;Wideyed Surely it's chilly downstairs today, for you are about to see a series of pictures in this thread!

;Photogenic

I quietly updated the picture on post 1 yesterday, but here's the rest for a walk around the tank.

A couple other things I've talked a bit about in the thread but haven't ever shown much.

One is the frag tank; you can see it in the background in the corner of the room in some of the tank shots 2 posts above. It's a pretty simple setup, and it's not much more than the incoming/outgoing stopping point for corals in/out of the DT. I used to keep a pink streaked wrasse in it, but he died a couple months ago (had him over 3 years). I doubt I'll put another fish in it, as it's a lot easier to keep clean when I'm not feeding the tank all the time.

It's simply a JBJ RL20 lit by a 4 bulb T5 fixture (2 ATI blue+, 1 coral+, 1 true actinic). There's a Tunze nano ATO on it and a Tunze 9001 skimmer that just fits in the back. 2 part is dosed with a couple BRS pumps, and flow is provided via a Tunze 6040 (great little pump for a small tank btw). And probably needless to say, it's ran off the same Apex as the main tank. I'm only using the stock pump on it, and there is a little heater in the back too.

And the very last thing, is the "lab" with the QT tanks and the RODI unit/storage.
The QT tanks are bare-bones simple; a 20g and a 10g - both with penguin HOB filter and a MJ pump for circulation. The desk lights in the corner are on a simple timer. That's really all there is to them, sans the PVC pieces or a sand box if needed.

The RODI unit is mounted on the wall with a booster pump, and the 50g tank on the floor has a couple float switches which turn the unit on/off (Spectrapure reservoir fill system). And then there's a Eheim 1262 with 50' of tubing which is just enough for me to reach both ATO tanks on the DT/frag tanks. The pump is plugged into a wireless remote switch to make that process simple. You can see the remote sitting on top of the tank if you look closely.

Whoooooaaaa! An update! Hahaha

Great pics Hunter, as usual.
Shocking, right?!?! Thanks George!
Awesome! Looking good Hunter!
Thank you!
That candy basslet has an evil look.
Great update
Thank you. I knew that shot was a winner the second the shutter clicked. :D
Great update, I really like the H. Timorensis and the red tail flasher.
Thanks!
The timorensis sure has changed a lot in 2 years; the same fish shown as female here: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/evolveds-190g-dsa-reef-wrasse-retreat.110197/page-9#post-2310860

Great to see this and read some about your challenges.
Anyone who doesn't speak of their challenges simply isn't talking about them. ;)
Thanks, and have fun!

Well there goes my tax return on wrasse! Tank looks fabulous and as always your wrasse hit me right where it matters lol. Sorry to hear about the loss of the pink streak though.
Heh, I do love to spend other people's money. :) Thanks!

Thanks Paul!
I personally loved the shot of the M. negrosensis. So beautiful! And thanks for coming through on a long awaited (pictorial) update :)
Eh, I'm not super pleased with the shot of the negrosensis; the tail is in focus and not the head. But it was the best I got of that one this shoot, so it found its way here.
And thank you. :)
