I was browsing your build thread again mostly because it is so amazing. Then I noticed it looked like you have an Apex auto feeder in your sump! Did I see that correctly? If so, how is that working for you?

I have a canopy on my tank and can't rim mount it. As a result mine has splashed into the tank a few times. Putting it in the sump would be much easier if it works well. Not to mention it would allow me to not have a cutout for it when I put together my new system.

You certainly did. :)

It works quite well, and has been the past year. I did something similar in my last tank for several years prior to this as well, but I had to have a pellet shoot in that sump to ensure the pellets found their way into the return. This current sump with a bigger pump (Vectra L1) has enough flow into the pump that I don't have that issue. All the pellets dropped get sucked into the return within a couple minutes, and all the fish are well aware of the clock and start hover around the returns in the tank a good 10 minutes prior to feeding time. :p

So simple yet so brilliant!

I can't believe I haven't thought of that. I add phyto and reef frenzy to the sump to feed this way already. Not sure why I never considered it for my auto feeder.

Thanks!

And here I'd been wondering if I was the only one who fed his return pump, instead of his fish . . .

I rather like the fact that the food enters the tank moving fast, and is dispersed almost instantly - nobody gets to hog the source, and everybody has to work a little if they want to catch a snack.

~Bruce, amused by the fact that Hunter's fish are all checking their watches and waiting on the returns when the autofeeder goes off . . .

I feed my return pump section, as well. Because I have my return pump going to two tanks, this helps the auto feeder provide food for both tanks.

Tank is looking great.

I have been followig your post for a long time. Seems like I remember once upon a time you were thinking about two male Lineatus, did you ever do that? Would you recommend it? I acquired one about a week ago, he is in QT, was considering adding another so they would go into the DT at the same time

Your tank is beautiful and an inspiration. How is the acrylic tank holding up? I'm thinking about a 300 gallon peninsula and debating glass vs acrylic

Do the pellets occasionally find their way into your reactors or is your manifold designed to address this?
