This is for "Dave" the sump nem baby that lived.

I have some anemones that are red, purple and green
They like to snuggle and be seen
From time to time they spawn
It is usually just before dawn
And then one day I was blown away
A little nem managed to be created on that day
The little nem was found in the sump
So I took him out of that dump
I gave the little nem his own spot
Hoping it would give him a shot
The little nem did very well
And now at 3" he has a story to tell.

Box of water
rocks in glass
is where I spend
my hard earned cash

watching fish and coral grow
under LED's and flow
is my favorite thing to do,
when I'm not on R2R learning something new!

Beastie boy flare. Lol.
Here’s a little story I got to tell about three bad reefers you know so well.
started way back in history with Jules Sanjay and thee Mike P
Just me and my sea horsy and a quart of Meer
Swimming across the reef kicking up sand
Tang P posse on my tail 'cause I'm in demand
One lonely reefer I be
All by myself without nobody
The sun is beating down on exposed reef flat
The air is gettin' hot the meer is getting flat
Lookin' for a girl I ran into a guy
His name is TSA I said, "Howdy" he said, "Hi.

Gem tang, blenny, fairy wrasse, my fish make me happy cause they don’t give me sass.

Coral galore in the tank, spent thousands, but it’s worth breaking the bank.

Orange, green, purple, blue, the colors got me hooked now I’m stuck like glue.

Never a gamble when it brings you peace, so long as your spouse doesn’t become the bank police!

I had a dream
But not like the King.
Mine was of white sand. And
Corals that gleamed.

it was a seed planted long ago ,
Like a child I wanted to watch it grow.
so I dug in my pocket, I dug real deep,
Only to find out “this $@&+ ain’t cheap”

It filled me with sorrow, it filled me with dread
Yet I didn’t falter, I went in Guns blazing, full
Steam ahead

I bought the tank, a reefer 625 G2
And when it arrived I felt the fire inside,
The passion renewed

I bought the sand, the rocks, the equipment
My heart soared with each new shipment
I built the reef with my own hands and enjoyed
The feeling of my fingers sifting thru the sand

I went to the lfs and got my first fish
I felt like Aladdin when he got his first wish
There were frags and gadgets galore
I told Matt my fish guy. I will be back for more

The lights came on and the algae grew
Tough roads are ahead this I knew
I started to falter, I started to doubt
When suddenly I realized this is what reefing is about.

The eyes of the watchman and
The size of the pistol
Once a single one,
Now a double bond
Out to make your day
Or for your wallet to decay

Quite humble nests,
But the zoanthids cannot rest
Sorry, my sand frags are not the best
To the abyss they go
My head about to explode
The antennae strikes me a pose
So I boil the shrimp to go

The lone goby grieves at the lost
My smile gleams at the cause
A splash,
The pair is forever lost

In the morning it wakes with shades of blue,
God I just love that shade of hue.
The fish start stirring from there sleep, in and out of the rocks so deep.
Morning comes to the tank I love, and all the creatures from the man above.
The day goes on, the lights get brighter. The corals grow as the lights get whiter.
The reef is alive, some say as they dive, but my tank is too, I see with my eye.
Fear not, your lives are not in vain, you bring me such joy, as I dump water down the drain.
The day is done, the lights dim down, sleep my little ones, darkness has come.

My Reef don’t have any pronouns.

The reef in my house is lit by imitations of the sun

The rock was ripped from rubble piles offshore

The coral came decorated with CITIES permits

My reef is almost fully legit.

I have some coral on the endangered list

The debates heat up as the sea temperature cycles

My reef runs on the electrical grid

Much more efficient and essential than your Tesla.

No one can see my reef from the side

It’s overgrown with coralline and look down only

Rev, poetry don’t have to rhyme

My reef fish they can change their pronouns

My reef ain’t red

The kelvin looks blue

It’s under PAR for a golf course

But it grows corals dude.

runs my daily grind
swims across my mind
fully encrusts my time
All of the colors
Next to each other
none are quite the same
Not for the money
Not for the fame
could quit this hobby tomorrow
But I fear going insane.

Once upon a time
@revhtree asked for a rhyme
About my fish tank journey
He set the challenge before me

So I looked deep back in my mind
For thoughts and words to find
I looked back to the start
And hoped my brain would not fart

Come on, you knew that was coming
So now the rhyme is forthcoming
It started way back in twenty ten
I started my little reef garden

A seventy five was soon bought
I didn't give the purchase much thought
I soon found the need for more stuff
Fitting it in the budget was tough

Lights and a sump were brought in
Then a skimmer search did begin
More equipment was looked for
And it came in through the door

Then came the sand and the rock
And the hope my wife would not block
Then the came corals and snails
Then fish, crabs, and more snails

Soon the tank was going strong
Oh but what could go wrong?
The house soon was sold
So we moved in the cold

Soon the tank was back running
But now algae was growing
All the fish soon went down
And the corals turned brown

The tank crashed so bad
And it made me so mad
That I almost stopped reefing
For two years was no saltings

Then came a 5 gallon
A little all in one
With a clownfish and sand
And some corals - not bland

It was running so well
I bought corals so swell
And filled it bursting
My wife said "Get a new thing!"

Back out came the seventy five
The rock/sand again was made live
Soon fish and again corals
The tank was worth laurels

Soon full of more things
Racks built to hold blinds
And again my wife said
A bigger tank is needed

So now the one twenty five
Is running and is live
It's sure going swell
I sure hope it stays well

So there you go @revhtree
A nice long poem from me
About the journey I took
I'm sorry for the book

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from reef to reef,
To the last syllable on the apex program;
And all our yesterdays have nutrient spikes
The way to fallow tanks. Out, out, brief LED!
Life's but a shimmering shadow, a poor clownfish,
That shimmies and wiggles his hour upon the anemone,
And then is seen no more. It is a tale
Told by an reefer, full of brine and alkalinity,
Signifying......... nothing.
