I got some pulsing Xenia two days ago and it seems to be very happ (full extension waving and pulsing) but when I got it the guy there said that there were some Hawaiian something or other zoas attached but the Xenia is literally growing off of one of the 3 zoa plolyps. They haven’t opened since I got them. Is the Xenia irritating them and keeping them from opening? They don’t look like they’re dying just won’t open

Xenia will grow on just about anything, and they will indeed grow on and smother any coral that doesn’t really have a defense mechanism.

I would take out the frag and using a scalpel or xacto knife carefully scrape off any xenia that is attached to the zoa polyp(s). Either that or you can let nature take its course and see which one wins. But my money is on the xenia lol.
