So I have 2 x XR15 Blue Gen 5s on my DD 1200 aquarium about 8 inches about the water. Running AB + schedule at 80 %.

Is this light set up suitable for softies, nems and a couple of LPS ?

Run them at 100% ab+. With 4 on my old 48×24×16 I got 200 par on the bottom rack 12.5" and could grow anything.
2 would be a good start with plans of adding additional light when needed. A 30 between the 15's would work well on that system.

The bar was added on the 80 just before I took the tank down to move.

I run the same xr15's on a 30×24×16 currently
3 Xr15's close together give a nice
blanket of par across the system.
