Hey everyone im setting my 80g 48x24x16 up as a growout system.
Actual water depth is 13.5".
I am leaning towards the pro version so I can have some adjustability if needed..
A lfs runs all gen 4. One lfs just went to 6 xr15 blue over their frag system replacing 6 year old black boxes. I really like the look as its more white than others have said.

I have read all I can online, I dont do facebook or others, so im looking for anyone that runs these over any system although mine will be 95% acros.

My 2 15"x15"x1.5" frag racks will be posioned directly under each 15 so most will be 12" from the surface running radion mounts at 8".

My 30g remote fuge will be run by 1-16hd as I run 5 of them on 2 other systems.

Here is a pic of the system. The led black box did well but is being replaced by the 16hd as you can see the arm in the pic.

Any feedback on results with these light would be great.

If you plan to run AB+ spectrum:
+Blue. The look is not as blue as people make it to be. The color looks closest to a t5 lit tank.

If you like a whiter look:
+Pro

If you want maximum par on AB+ spectrum:
+Blue

I run one XR15 Blue on my 25 lagoon, supplemented with two populargrow led bars. Tank is between 300-400 par 6”-8” below the waterline. The radions are running at 75%.

If you like the old school whiter look, go with the Pros. Even the AB+ spectrum on Pro is a little more white than the one on Blue. You really cannot make the Blue go white without sacrificing a lot of par.

Either way, XR30 is a better choice for acros. I couldn’t get closer to 250 par with the XR15, without pushing it to 100%. It could be that I had rocks in there where as you will only have the frag racks.

Thanks! Interesting view on par.
I have read that elsewhere but am still wondering why. I get the 30 is 2x a 15 and it should have more par but it may be the placement as you say.

Thanks I want both, lol.
I came from halides that have huge growth qualities so color is more inline with what im looking for.
My 16hd tanks have better color than I expected. The one large stag was purple in my halide lit 120 and is now blue after only a few weeks under the 16's.
It was a blue slimer frag when it went into the 120.
Here it is.

On an unrelated note. If I am setting up a tank now, I will give these a serious look. I really like the evenness of par an LED bar can provide.

Thanks! If I was to go bars I already have 2 orphek blues. I am looking for a streamlined look for the new system as this was my as someone said, a monstosity of a light system, lol.

When running multiple radions, you will be able to achieve par with both versions. I would base this purchase solely based on looks. I have a feeling that you will like the pros better.
Thanks, thats the direction im leaning towards.

Had both and preferred the Pro by a mile. The blue to me was terrible for color rendition and fish looked terrible under it. It 100% does NOT match the AB+ look from previus versions. How do I know? I had a G4 Pro on the same tank at the same time. It was impossible to get them to match. I sold the Blue and got Pro. Much better look overall to my eye but I hate overly blue LSD-rave-party lit tanks

Thanks as im leaning in that direction. Lfs has 6 blue on a large frag system that was black box led. I will have to go back and look again as it did look good, very white.

So I just got back from lfs. Their 15 blues are mounted 24" above the tank. Tank is 12" deep. He was getting 200 par directly below the light and 170 between 2. That seemed high for that height as mine will only be 8" above the water but its what his par meter read.
They were not set at 100%.
I do like the look of the blues and have only seen gen 4 versions at the other lfs.
