Good morning,

When I purchased my tank it came with two ai primes its a Marine x 90.3. The dimensions are 35.4" 19.4" 22" I basically have these lights almost maxed out and im only achieving about 110ish par on the sandbed which is fine but I have read alot about these lights melting lens at high output or wearing down quickly. I was considering upgrading to two XR15s does anyone have any other recommendations? I think the primes would've been fine on a more shallow tank but 22" deep plus there mounted about 1' above the top of the tank so I think im pushing it.

For that depth of a tank, I would do the XR30s. The 15s just don't have enough power to get enough PAR to the bottom. They are better for shallower tanks.

Would i need two XR30s? Or could I get away with one? Ill have to look into that light tonight.

agreed with xr30s.

I have a tank measured 48.2"L x 25.3"W x 16.1"H - shallow !
I am using 3 xr15s at 45% and its hitting 100 par on sand bed.

So def xr30s on that 22"H tank.

To get full coverage, yes, two would be needed. If you use one, the ends of the tank will have very little PAR.

What type of corals are you trying to keep? You may not need 30's depending on that.
Mostly lps and a few softies i would get the xr30s but the prices is alot more then the xr15s

If your mindful on placement and were happy with the Primes the XR15's would be a nice upgrade in my opinion. AI Blades may be something else I would look at.

you're fine with xr15s just lps and softies bud. might look into the Kessils as they do penetrate downward.
Ill take a look into them too im trying to keep my budget around $1500. Thanks for the comment

Go for a few used G5s then.

I’ve heard the high intensity lenses really help the xr15 get deeper.

I have the same dimension tank and I agree with 2 XR30
I had 2 XR15 and I sold them and got a ATI 6 bulb fixture plus added 2 AI bars for the glow

Say i did go ahead and buy the xr30s? Do you think that its over kill just for lps and softies? Seems like they might make the most sense after reading all these comments.
