Yasha goby stressed

Hello, my male yasha goby has been acting weird since a month or so. I barely see him out of the cave even when i feed them and when he does go out he just tries to jump and floats around like in the video. I don't have any more fish besides the female, who is fine and acts normal. What can be happening? Water quality was tested recently and it's good.

This can be intimidation by the other goby and this fish appears to be thin.
Is it eating and what foods are you offering it?

The fish were paired since i bought them and i never saw aggression behavior. I don't see him eating lately but for some reason he's not thin, at least not to the point to be concerned. His belly is not sunk.

Compared to the many ive seen and in the pic, its a little sunken in. Pic is too blue to clearly see the fish and best under bright white light intensity

He has not eaten today so probably thats why he looks a bit thin. Anyways, i just meant that he is not looking too bad externally, not to the point where i am alarmed, but i might be wrong of course. What concerns me is his behavior. Do you see something wrong in the picture?

Other than nipped tail, a sign of previous aggression, intimidation is still a suspect. Do water changed and add an air stone and see if it perks up

Eight months. Never showed any kind of problem before. No one complained about the video until now so maybe it's your computer? I don't know.

Video is playing fine this morning on the same computer - must have been the web site.

So - all I can see in the video is that the goby is stressed out and a bit thin. I can't tell you why though - perhaps, as mentioned, a problem with other fish in the tank.

I think his health is declining fast. He just floats around and seems like he can't swim propperly. Sadly i don't think he will make it. He has been acting very shy and barely going out if their burrow for more or less one month. Before that, he ate a lot and was healthy. Could the female yasha have been bullying him? I really want to know the cause.

IDK - if the female was bullying it, I’d think you’d see he coming up after him once in awhile. Likewise, if this was a contagious disease, the female should also be showing symptoms.

When my fish got flukes they had very similar symptoms. Stayed in rocks for months, didn’t eat, heavy breathing, and towards the end of their life they would start floating around like in the video. Flukes can also take a while to infect the other fish if they are healthy which happened in my case. So at this point it might be a little too late to save it, but i would still buy some prazi pro and see if that works because i really feel like this is flukes.

Do you have a pistol shrimp with it? They pair with the candycane pistol, as the tiger pistol is a little larger and may eat them. Yasha’s are more dependent upon a shrimp partner than yellow watchman’s are, and they generally stress out and don’t last long without a shrimp partner.

Flukes can become a problem after many months of being benign, however they generally infect all fish of the same or similar species at the same time.

Minimum of 14 days, 30 is safer, 45 days to rule out virtually all issues.
