Yellow corris has chunk missing but still alive

This is my fault, I took away the mirror because I didn’t see any aggression for the month I’ve added the yellow Coris. I have a Melanurus and a blue star leopard, and I never seen either go for it or any other fish.

Earlier today I saw the yellow hiding in this cave but it looked fine just some frays on its tail. I should have put the mirror back up.

Came back and checked on it and now a whole chunk is gone! It’s still alive which is awful.

Can I save it? Should I euthanize?

What other fish do you have?

Your other wrasses could not have caused that kind of damage.

I’d personally euthanize

It’s tough to see in the video but if a 3rd of his body is missing I would euthanize as well. I had do to that with a starry blenny that decided to hide in a working mp60 for some reason.

I used clove oil. There was some guidance somewhere in this forum.

I have caught it and put in the acclimation box. I can see its skeleton.

In addition tot he melanurus and blue star leopard, I have a large CBB, 2 yellow tangs, a purple tang, a hippo tang, tomini, a male Watanabe angel, female bellus, coral beauty, pair of clowns, fox face, blenny, mandarin.

My male angel chases (but never seen it attack yet) the bellus, but other than that it’s a very peaceful tank. I can only think the melanurus has kept pecking at it after exhausting it.

Here’s how it looked when I tried to catch it with minimizing movement to conserve its energy.

melanurus is my suspect and unfortunately, I do not see positive healing and recovery from this. Seachem neoplex will prevent further protection from infection but dont see healing to occur

Sorry to see. Yes, this fish needs to be euthanized as it can not heal that much of a wound. Here is a post I made on this topic:

He will function a few days just wont heal normal and live a normal life or have ability to swim
