Hey guys.
We just found our yellow mimic tang stuck to the powerhead and he is super weak. He is now at the top of the tank sideways.
And is sometimes swimming sideways and sometimes not.
Please help.
No new additions to the tank in 3 months.
We've had the tang for 5 months.
Please help.

I wish someone knew
People only answer if they have the knowledge. There is a disease forum where you can call an emergency. If ever there is a next time.

I’m sorry about your fish.
What was happening to it and why.
It's still (kind of) alive. It's moving its gills and reacts to stuff occasionally.

Sorry to hear about your tang - I was offline for the night and didn't see your post until now.

The issue is now "damage control" to help ensure that whatever caused this does not spread to the other fish.

You say it wasn't breathing fast, was it slow and deep or slow and shallow?
When was the last time you fed the fish and saw it eat?\
What other fish are in with it?

It was very shallow.
My mom (it's her tank that we started together) said that she had fed them thursday and everyone had ate.

I also saw the fish Friday before I left and everything was normal.

In some ways I'm leaning towards aggression of some sort.
We always thought that the tank should be a aggression magnet but it has t.
The current fish (in order of when we added)
3 cromis
2 regular ocilarris clowns
1 royal gramma.
1 4 inch Fijian yellow mimic(I think it's fijjian)(the one that died too)
2 Tomato clowns.
1 1 inch blue hippo tang.

The main thing is all we have ever seen is some fin nipping but I've never seen a tank without any.
The 2 sets of clowns stay to their own sides of the tank.
The Tomatoes host a big coral we have.
Also we plan to get a super big tank this summer.
So we weren't concerned about having to remove anything.

We also had a plan b of moving something to my rank. Back when we finished filling that tank my tank was able to support more fish without aggression.

And yes before anyone says it I know that we shouldn't have gotten the Tomatoes or the hippo I know it was a mistake.

O.K., thanks, I just wanted to rule a few things out. Problem is, that doesn't leave much in the way of possibilities. I don't think it was regular aggression, since the fish's fins look good.

I would just watch all of the other fish. Sometimes, fish die from internal issues that are not really contagious. That's a possibility here.
