Ran across this eel the other day! Im in love. Seriously considering seeing if I can find one… would need to re do my stocking since its a bigger eel but its beautiful! Both as a juv and an adult.

Yeah! I love that pop of yellow. Trying to see if I can find one but they are rare, of course lol.

I believe that they are found plenty in australia and Hawaii, you can maybe try to contact a fishery in australia and they might hook you up with one or you can contact a world wide distributor called sea dwelling creatures, but I did hear a lot of bad reviews about sea dwelling creatures.

I actually found this guy in a LFS today.

I actually found this guy in a LFS today.
Since we're on this topic, I too found a really cool and rare trigger fish, though I sadly didn't take a picture!


The lfs did say that it was their first time getting one, i was lucky to be there at that time

Species? Looks like a common M niger to me though I hate calling them common as, though I've seen them in both the Caribbean and Hawaii, they are always a highlight. Stunning fish

I've never seen them in the Indian ocean, neither in person until recent, i believe that it's a Melichthys niger you're right! beautiful fish indeed! But yeah no wonder it's found so wide spread in hawai, at this point I believe that hawai has everything Haha
